Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born in Tungipara village of Patgati union in Gaepalganj subdivision of Faridpur district in the then Indian subcontinent. His father Sheikh Lutfar Rahman was the sergeant of Gaepalganj Sessions Court (who keeps the accounts of the court) and his mother's name was Saira Khatun. He was the third child in a family of four daughters and two sons. His elder sister Fatema Begum, younger sister Asiya Begum, sister Amena Begum and younger sister Khadeja Begum; His sixth brother's name is Sheikh Abu Naser.

Sheikh Mujib started studying at Gimadanga Primary School in 1928 when he was seven years old. He was admitted to Gaepalganj Public School in 1929 at the age of nine. Due to his father's transfer, he was admitted to Madaripur Islamia School in 1931 and studied there till 1934. In 1936, he was admitted in the seventh grade in Gaepalganj Mission School. He could not continue his schooling for four years from 1934. Because he had to undergo surgery because of a complex rage in his eye and it took a long time to fully recover from it. He passed matriculation from Gaepalganj Mission High School in 1942.

Bangabandhu's identity and career over time

1920 - Birth of Bangabandhu and brief introduction.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born on 17 March 1920 in Tungipara village of Gaepalganj district to an aristocratic family. The Sheikh family was wealthy during the Magel and Nawabi periods in terms of land and navigation. Later, in the midst of various adversities, the company lived the life of a middle-class professional. Bangabandhu's father Sheikh Lutyar Rahman. Sessions served as court clerk. His mother is Saira Khatun. She was a housewife.

1926 - Bangabandhu's first educational career.
At the age of seven, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman started his school life by enrolling in Gimadanga Primary School.

1921 - Bangabandhu's ongoing educational career.
He was admitted in third class in Gopalganj Public School.

1930 - Marriage of Bangabandhu.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was married to his cousin Bain Begum Fazilatunnesar (Renu).

1934 - Travel to Calcutta for Bangabandhu's critical illness and treatment.
At the age of 14, when he was in 8th class, Beriberi became angry and his heart became weak and he went to Calcutta for treatment. He was under treatment for about two years.

1938 - Re-admission to Bangabandhu's school and contribution to the anti-British independence               struggle.
He was again admitted in the seventh class in Madaripur High School. But if glaucoma is severe in the eyes, he has to go to Calcutta and undergo eye surgery. He has been using glasses ever since. After completing his treatment, he returned to Madaripur and joined the anti-British freedom struggle.
